I'm sorry I neglected you Little Guestroom - let's kiss and make up :)
God this room is Dull ! I apologise to all friends and family who have stayed here, in this room, over the past couple of years. I simply ran out of decorating steam, and I think, fell out of love with the house a little.
But I'm going to make amends for my indifference and selfishness - this room is getting a makeover!
Now before you get excited and carried with calls of "dump the 80's bed" and "get some bloody colour on the walls" I must tell you that some things are staying ... most notably the early 90's (not 80's!!!!) bed and the paint colours ... and the curtains .... possibly the lampshade, it's early days though.
As we are planning a move at some point (.... in our lifetime I hope) I'm not investing megabucks ...and anyway I have several other rooms requiring even more attention *shameface on*
The very 80's chair (Aaron's from his teenage years) is getting painted (again) and new covers, the salvaged, painted sideboard is getting moved to another room (can you tell we hate to throw away furniture!) I'm making some garlands, some mirrors etc. there'll be textures, textiles galore....
And in my new found enthusiasm I went off shopping in a Grenoble Troc a few days ago and came home with this dressing table - the mirror and drawers were obviously not born together but it's pretty and serves my purposes :) This will be painted Chartreuse green (see there will be colour!)
Oh yes, how could I forget, I'm waiting on these to arrive :D *squeeeee*

Your plans sound exciting and those pom poms will look great (are you planning to have them in your guest room?).
Renovating old furniture is fun but oh, so much time consuming. It's the same with an old house. We've got a lot of unfinished work at our house. Good luck with your project!
Hi Minna -yep pom poms are for this room :) they should be fun!
Actually, the room isn't bad at all in its pre-makeover state. Clean, simple. Still, I'm excited to see how you give it your touch and I'm DYING to see that dressing table & mirror painted chartreuse.
P.S. The day you decide to sell your house is the day you have to let me know so I can think about buying it. I'm serious. I want!
Wow! The room is actually already quite beautiful it is! I love chartreuse green!
oh, it would sure be wonderful to be a guest in your house :D...I love the dresser! the mirror is gorgeous!
Sounds lovely! Lots of potential.
I think the room is already beautiful but I have to admit the new dresser and mirror are to die for!! Oh, and the pom pom flowers....gorgeous! I can't wait to see how it turns out!
Love the wood floors and beams and the simple beauty of the room...I agree with keeping the paint and curtains already there! And I am with Karen - the mirror and dresser are awesome...can't wait to see the finished result, and really I hope you post "the work in progress". Oh, I also love the skirt you are wearing!
thanks for all the positive comments - will keep posting progress :)
Tortilla - I'll be sure to let you know when it's on the market :D

Great ides you have!
Can't wait to see the result!
Sounds like it will be fabulous! You'll have to share the new pics with us once you have finished tackling your project.

Hi Anna - thankyou for visiting!!
that's going to be a very nice room! I love Troc - there is one basically down the street from us - have to hide some purchases from my husband ;))
The skirt looks great!!
That mirror is gorgeous and the idea of having pom poms is a great one!
Hey, can you come over and decorate my house?
Love it ! I too have fallen out of love with this house and am trying to rekindle a little fire ! Thanks for a spark : )
